When feeding your horse, it's important to follow the recommended feeding rate on your chosen feed. Each feed is designed to meet your horse's nutritional needs at that specific amount, and accounts for your horse having free access to grass. If you’re feeding less than the recommended rate, consider these options:

1. Supplement with a multi-vitamin:
   If you're feeding half the recommended amount, use half the recommended dose of a multi-vitamin to fill in the nutritional gaps.
2. Choose a feed with a lower feeding rate:
   Some feeds are designed to be fed in smaller amounts while still providing all the nutrients your horse needs.
3. Combine feeds:
   For example, you can feed 70% of the recommended rate of one feed (like Mitavite Stud Gro) and 30% of another (like Mitavite Munga) for specific benefits, such as muscle building.

Also, your horse should be eating at least 1.5% of their body weight in forage each day, such as low-sugar options like Timothy Hay or Chaff. This keeps their digestive system healthy and prevents hunger between meals. If your horse is on restricted grass access, make sure you're feeding them in regular intervals throughout the day.

1. Ensure your horse gets enough of the Big 3: Fiber, Protein, and Fat.
2. If your current feeding plan is working, stick with it.
3. If it’s not, figure out why before making changes.
